About Ken Doyle, founder of ConServe
A.A.S. Air Conditioning Technology, Old Dominion University
B.S. Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, Old Dominion University

Like a musician who arrives in their life experience “wired” to hear sound as harmony and melody, Ken arrived with the ability to see spatial relationships and a fascination with how pieces fit, and work, together. As a preschool child he drew pictures with engineering-like details and proportions — demonstrating a curiosity with taking things apart and putting them together.

His earliest experience with complex “corrective assembly” was at age 9 when his younger brother brought his bicycle's coaster brake assembly in pieces and said, “Fix this.” Ken figured out how to put it back together without any instruction or guidance and even made the test ride!

All of his childhood and teen years were spent on a farm where he entertained himself by building structures, equipment, and figuring out “how things worked.” His father's 1954 John Deere tractor , for example, is still “alive” and working. When the car-driving bug bit the Doyle brothers, it was a "drag race-wreck-repair" cycle! (Think “Dukes of Hazard” without the snazzy horn!)

Thankfully, Ken turned his fascination with the workings of all-things-mechanical-and-electrical into other paths in shop class and at Old Dominion University. His HVAC and Mechanical Engineering degrees with an electrical focus put him on a career path. His main purpose for this study, however, was always just the fun of figuring out how things worked and conquering the challenges involved.

“I have always been drawn to complicated mechanical and electrical systems with power.”
He decided to accept the challenge of creating ConServe to provide focus and utilize his vision for improvements in facility operations. His core knowledge of HVAC and Electrical systems have led to an in-depth understanding of interconnected services for:

  • "Mission Critical" commissioning services requiring 100% testing
  • Electrical and generator systems
  • Building Automation Systems
  • LEED and similar Green services
  • Training for managers and technicians
  • “Hands On” troubleshooting and modification services for complex systems
ConServe is Ken's vision. We look forward to pursuing this vision of maintaining the HVAC&R and electrical systems of our commercial and industrial clients in a manner that conserves their money, equipment, and employee resources well into the future.
